The Bug Safari

Guiding

I was the Group Leader for an event at Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park called the Bug Safari.

A couple of times per week I would lead groups of people (mostly families who were staying in the nearby campground) into the forest to see what critters we could find.

We looked for birds and tracks of the more elusive animals.

Mostly I had the group look under rocks and logs and the underside of leaves to see what they could find, then I would identify the little critters.  We found some interesting things such as tiny red spiders and a group of ants that were herding aphids.

 Canoe Trips

I was the Group Leader for several week-long canoe expeditions.   One such trip took us from just south of Calgary, Alberta to south-central Saskatchewan.  Other canoe trips were conducted in British Columbia and down the Mariachi River in New Brunswick.
